An Official Scholarship Preliminary to the Miss Alabama and Miss America Pageants
Katherine's platform is Big Brothers Big Sisters, the nation's largest volunteer supported mentoring network that makes meaningful, monitored matches between adults and children ages 6 through 18 in communities across the country. This organization believes that by developing positive relationships, 'Littles' are more confident in their school performance, able to get along better with their families, and are measurably less likely to skip school or begin using illegal substances or alchohol.
Katherine is combining her skills in public speaking and instrumental performance to bring awareness that Big Brothers Big Sisters is making a measurable impact on children's lives through mentoring.
Katherine will be competing in the 2011 Miss Alabama Pageant June 6-11, 2011.
